Next-generation sequencing in cancer research and diagnosis

Pantelis Hatzis, Ph.D., Institute for Fundamental Biomedical Research, Head of Fleming Genomics Facility in the Biomedical Sciences Research Center ‘Alexander Fleming’ in Athens, Greece

Dr Hatzis is a researcher at the Biomedical Sciences Research Center 'Alexander Fleming' in Vari, Athens, Greece. His research interests include lncRNA-mediated epigenetic regulation and the contribution of lncRNA-encoded microproteins cellular homeostasis and carcinogenesis. Dr Hatzis also heads the Fleming Genomic and Precision Medicine Facility and the Genomics &Transcriptomic Unit of pMedGR at the Medical School of the University of Athens.

Date: 1.2.2023 at 14:00 (CET)

Next generation sequencing has emerged as a powerful tool for the massively parallel probing of the composition and state of nucleic acids. The lecture will provide an outline of its principles and principal uses in understanding and diagnosing the underlying causes of cancer.
